Someone Cares is committed to creating environments that are safe for all.
To help us achieve this, and to ensure that we are constantly improving our practice in this area, we are committed to undertaking the following:
1. Adherence to our Safeguarding Policy.
2. Working with our project and partner organisations to ensure safeguarding through our Safeguarding Partnership Agreement and the operational guidelines and documents relating to this (available to our partner organisations and / or on request).
3. Annually reviewing our Safeguarding Policy, Safeguarding Partnership Agreement and attached documents.
4. Having a Designated Safeguarding Officer on the Someone Cares governing board and a Safeguarding Coordinator and Safeguarding Deputy at the Someone Cares UK Hub.
5. Ensuring that Someone Cares staff and volunteers who are in direct contact with adults with care and support needs, children and young people are fully referenced and DBS checked, whether that be by Someone Cares, the partner church or the hospital trust at which they volunteer.
6. Ensuring that our staff and volunteers are receiving regular safeguarding training.
7. Regularly checking our processes against those produced by advisory bodies such as thirtyone:eight
8. Recognising that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
